Driver caught almost six times over legal limit

A driver has had his car impounded after he was caught behind the wheel at almost six times the limit in northern Victoria.

Police spotted a silver Toyota Hilux utility driving erratically on Benalla Road in Shepparton around 9.10pm on Friday.

The 43-year-old man returned a positive breath test of 0.294.

He was served with an immediate driving ban and has his vehicle impounded at a cost of $1056.

His licence was immediately suspended

He was charged with drink-driving offences and bailed to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in April 2024.
