A Victorian man has been charged after he allegedly made violent threats towards a federal MP.
The 54-year-old is due to front Ringwood Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He’s accused of making the threats after he was summonsed following an Australian Federal Police raid at his home in Doncaster, in Melbourne’s north-east, on March 30.
Officers seized a laptop during the raid and had it forensically analysed.
Victoria Police allege the man emailed a Commonwealth government department and threatened violence against the MP, who has not been named.
The man was charged with one count of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence, which is punishable by up to five years in prison.
