SA man in court over death of wife, injured daughter

Father to face Adelaide court

A 51-year-old man will face court charged with murder and attempted murder after a siege in suburban Adelaide.

A woman, later identified as 51-year-old Alexsandra Vegulis, was killed and her daughter, 22-year-old Daniela Vergulis, was seriously wounded after both were shot at a home in Campbelltown north-east of the city on Saturday afternoon.

The neighbourhood was locked down shortly after 1.30pm as heavily armed tactical officers were deployed after reports of an armed man inside the home.

A man, later identified as Vasili Vergulis, 51, surrendered several hours later, after lengthy negotiations.

He was arrested and later charged with murder and attempted murder after the women were found collapsed in the driveway of the home.

There was no application for bail and Mr Vergulis will face the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

Ms Vergulis was in a stable condition in Royal Adelaide Hospital on Sunday.
