Melbourne woman Courtney Mills’ loved ones have told of the “horrible nightmare” they are enduring after the popular DJ plunged to her death in Bali.

The 37-year-old fell from a hotel balcony in Kuta on Friday and died from her injuries on Sunday, with her mother and sister by her side in hospital, according to reports.

Kuta Police Chief Agus Diwayanto Dwiputra told the ABC that Mills had been drinking and hotel staff took her to her room around midnight.

She was found about an hour later lying on the side of the hotel’s pool, said Dwiputra.

Mills was a passionate DJ who travelled around the country to perform at festivals and events. She also worked as a model on OnlyFans.

Courtney’s sister Kiani said Mills had a radiant smile, an infectious laugh and a boundless love for life.

She loved travelling to Bali and lived there in the past, her sister said.

“Our hearts are shattered as we share the devastating news of the sudden passing of our beloved Courtney Mills, in Bali,” she posted on Facebook.

“Courtney touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her light, sparkle, and spirit will forever remain with us.

“Courtney lived her life to the fullest and brought so much joy to those around her.”

Kiani said the tragic death was the “hardest and most unexpected loss and heartbreak we have ever had to navigate”.

“We would do anything to have you back Court, and mark this all down to a horrible nightmare.

“It feels so surreal and so unbelievable… there really are no words that will ever be able to explain or describe the loss of a loved one.”

The situation was made more difficult by the fact that the fatal accident happened in a foreign country.

The family launched a GoFundMe appeal asking for help to bring their loved one back to Australia.

“As a family we have come together to do what we can, but the time has come for us to ask for help… — with Diane Mayne and Andrew Mills,” wrote Kiani.

“No loss is ever easy, and losing a loved overseas has shown itself to be an incredible challenge and total other world of confusion.

“As a community we are seeking support, not only financially but in your presence when we do return home with Court to celebrate her life.

“Thank you all so much for your kind and generous offers, love and support.”

The funds raised will go towards the repatriation costs, memorial arrangements, and “creating a beautiful celebration of Courtney’s life — one filled with the music, love, and energy that she was known for”.

In 2023 Courtney made headlines after falling down a flight of stairs in Bali and suffering bleeding on the brain, appealing to GoFundMe for help.

In 2018, her friends said she was involved in a motorbike accident in Bali, with a GoFundMe appeal launched for her friend Matt Davis.
