A family’s “holiday of a lifetime” in Bali has ended in “profound grief” after their baby died in a tragic accident.
The child’s parents faced the sorrowful task of repatriating the body of their “cheeky and affectionate” two-year-old son.
The boy’s aunt, Bronwyn Cox, launched a GoFundMe to ease the financial strain and help with the unexpected costs of bringing him back to Australia.
She said the parents, Grace and Brendan, had faced the “unimaginable loss” of their boy while holidaying with family and friends on what was to be the trip of a lifetime.
He died on October 19th; however the details of the accident have not been disclosed.
“[He] brought immense joy and love into all our lives, and his passing has left us all in profound grief,” Cox said.
“During this incredibly difficult time, Grace and Brendan face not only emotional pain but also financial strain.
“The unexpected costs to bring [their boy] home, the funeral, and the need for time off work are overwhelming.
“We want to support them in any way we can.”
She said the GoFundMe would help the couple with expenses and “give them the space to grieve without additional stress”.
“Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and be deeply appreciated.”
On Tuesday morning (AEDT), nearly $30,000 of $35,000 had been raised.
The boy’s father, Brendan, paid tribute to his “one of a kind” son who was “always dancing and having fun”.
“You were so special, my boy. Keep shining like the star you are, and keep an eye on all of us down here. We love and miss you so much,” he wrote on Facebook.
