Long after leaving Ramsay Street, one-time Neighbours starlet Holly Valance has a renewed high profile – but this time it’s for the company she keeps.

The Australian-British actor and singer got her start on the long-running drama when she was just 16.

But she has since moved away from the spotlight and entered the political arena, making friends with some of the US and Britain’s most divisive politicians.

The 41-year-old may not be running for office herself – at least, for now – but she has established herself as an increasingly high-profile activist for the far-right.

She has stayed at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago and hosted fundraisers for him in the UK.

She has attended several events to benefit Britain’s Conservative Party and has pushed back on the idea of human-induced climate change.

Valance is also reportedly the reason why Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, decided to stand for election.

Last week, at a fundraiser for Trump, Farage declared it was a “Holly party” and promised the event, would be “enormous fun”.

From Ramsay Street to the UK

In 1999, Victorian-born Valance was cast in Neighbours as Felicity “Flick” Scully.

In 2002, after appearing in a Human Nature music video, she decided to leave Neighbours to pursue her music career.

An English-language cover of the song Kiss Kiss had her sitting on the ARIA and UK singles charts. She had more success with follow-ups but in 2004, she decided give up on music.

Like many Australian soap stars, Valance eventually made her way to the US.

She appeared on TV shows such as Entourage and CSI: Miami and even had a five-episode arc on Prison Break.

In 2012, she met British billionaire Nick Candy, who she would go on to wed.

Candy is a property developer and the couple has two children,

Valance had roles in a handful of movies, including alongside Liam Neeson in Taken.

But then she stepped back from TV and cinema to focus on her family and charity work.

She did however, reprise her role as Flick on what was intended to be the final episode of Neighbours in 2022.

Valance, Trump and Farage

In 2022, Valance was seen smiling alongside Trump, Farage and her husband after having dinner at Mar-a-Lago.

Apparently, Valance, a “paid-up member” of Reform UK had been “whispering in [Farage’s] ear for a long time” to stand in an election.

It would appear her husband, Candy, has more moderate views.

He is a Tory donor, but recently called British Labour leader Keir Starmer a “decent man”.

However, Candy also attended a Reform UK press conference with his wife earlier this month.

Earlier this year, Valance made headlines for saying most people grow out of progressive values.

“I would say that everyone starts as a leftie and then wakes up at some point after you start either making money, working, trying to run a business, trying to buy a home, and then realise what crap ideas they all are,” she said.

“Then you go to the right.”

There were rumours circulating that she might also stand as a Reform UK candidate. But that has been ruled out – for this general election at least – as “difficult”.

Valance is reportedly helping with Farage’s campaign.

Australia is too ‘woke’

Valance has also said in another GB News interview that while growing up in Australia was “unreal”, she believes “woke stuff” has “gone big” in her home country.

She specifically called out the “stuff they’re teaching in schools”, saying “sexuality and children” should not be in the same sentence.

In the same interview, she went on to denounce “demonic little gremlin, high priestess of climatism” Greta Thunberg, while questioning why she was praised for her activism.

“Kids are all coming home with depression and anxiety. Why would you go to your music lesson or bother doing your homework or get out of bed if you think we’re all going to be dead in five years anyway?” she said.

“Then you’ve got people like the Tate brothers who get demonised in schools. Oddly, they’re mentioned a lot.”

The Tate brothers have long been criticised for being misogynistic. They were arrested last year, before Valance’s GB News interview, over allegations of rape and human trafficking.

According to Valance, the brothers are simply just telling men to “get up, go to the gym, eat well, work hard, look after your family, look after your lady” and preventing them from “topping themselves”.
