One lucky player has scooped the entire $150 million Powerball jackpot, becoming Australia’s largest individual lottery winner.

However, the identity of the person whose life is about to change still remains a “complete mystery” and punters are being urged to check their tickets.

Lottery officials said the winning entry was bought in-store from a lottery outlet in Adelaide.

The ticket holder or holders were not registered to a card or online account, so their identity is not known.

The odds of a single entry winning Thursday night’s division-one prize were more than 134 million to one – about the same chance as being struck by lightning twice in a lifetime.

The $150 million jackpot was the third-largest lottery prize in Australian history.

The jackpot had risen to $150 million on Thursday night after no entries scored the division one prize in the previous $100 million draw, prompting the lottery’s top prize to roll higher for the sixth consecutive week.

Lottery officials have urged all South Australian residents or visitors who purchased an entry into the draw to check their tickets.

“Someone has become Australia’s biggest individual lottery winner and possibly doesn’t know it yet,” The Lott spokesman Khat Intrachai said.

“Can you imagine unwittingly walking around with a ticket worth $150 million?

“There are 150 million reasons why all South Australian players who had an entry in tonight’s draw should check their ticket as soon as possible.”

The $150 million was the third-largest lottery prize in Australian history.

In February two people shared a $200 million Powerball win.

In 2002 a $160 million jackpot was carved up between three ticket holders.
