Queensland Greens MP Amy MacMahon is in a serious condition in hospital after a two-car collision at a busy Brisbane intersection.
The crash occurred about 6.30pm on Monday when MacMahon’s Toyota Prius was struck by a Hyundai i30 at the intersection of Baines Street and Main Street in Kangaroo Point.
Emergency responders transported 37-year-old MacMahon to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
State Greens leader Michael Berkman said MacMahon’s injuries were not life-threatening.
“We’re hopeful that she’ll make a full recovery,” he told ABC Radio.
“Anyone who’s seen photos of the accident will know it’s a very serious crash, so take nothing for granted at this point.”
The other driver, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Queensland Police forensic crash unit is investigating.
