A manhunt is under way after a body was found on the outskirts of a tiny mining town in Western Australia.

Homicide detectives discovered Raymond Smith’s remains on Friday in Greenbushes, 245 kilometres south of Perth, after the 68-year-old disappeared in suspicious circumstances on December 7.

Two men, aged 35 and 41, have been charged with his murder.

Police on Tuesday announced homicide detectives were searching for another man, 30-year-old James Terence Hunt.

“Detectives believe Mr Hunt may be able to assist with an ongoing homicide investigation,” a spokeswoman said.

Hunt was last seen in the nearby Bunbury area on Thursday.

He is described as being about 177cm tall, of medium build with dark blonde hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who sees him is urged to contact police immediately.

Greenbushes’ mining operations produce tantalite, lithium, tin and kaolin.

The town has a population of about 360.
