Man shot in the head and chest in Sydney carpark

Campsie shooting feared linked to gangland war

Police are investigating after a man was shot in the head and chest in a south-western Sydney carpark, and a car crashed into a house and caught fire.

The 27-year-old man was peppered in bullets in the shooting on Canterbury Road, Campsie, on Tuesday night.

Police were called to the scene about 9.20pm. The man was treated by paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital in a serious condition.

Sydney media report the shooting is believed to be linked to the city’s underworld wars.

A short time later emergency services were called to Kingsgrove, where a Mercedes sedan had crashed into a house before catching alight.

No injuries were reported at the house fire on Kilkee Avenue, and the fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.
