The sole survivor of a multivehicle crash in Queensland has been charged with three counts of murder over the deaths of his partner and two others.
Rafferty Rolfe, 25, who remains under police guard in hospital, is expected to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday after being charged overnight.
Rolfe, who was allegedly behind the wheel of a stolen car, had previously been charged with multiple offences relating to the vehicle theft.
He is accused of following and attempting to ram a Nissan Navara ute driven by good Samaritan Terry Bishop, 65, who had offered a ride to Gypsy Satterley, 25.
The ute under pursuit veered onto the wrong side of the road at Federal, west of Noosa, and into the path of an oncoming Great Wall driven by Jessica Townley, 38.
Mr Bishop, a retiree, mum-of-two Ms Satterley and alpaca breeder Ms Townley all died in the crash on the Bruce Highway.
Police said Rolfe was in a relationship with Ms Satterley.
Mr Bishop, a retired resident of Hay Point in Mackay, was identified as the third victim on Monday.

Mr Bishop had been on his way from Mackay to Brisbane for a wedding at the time, his family said in a statement.
He stopped to collect Yandina woman Ms Satterley, who was seeking help.
“Our family is absolutely devastated; he is a man that would always go out of his way to help anyone in need,” Mr Bishop’s family said.
“He leaves behind a wife, daughter, son and five young grandchildren who all loved him dearly.
“Our hearts go out to the other victims’ families and the first responders in this horrific tragedy.”
Ms Satterley’s family praised Mr Bishop in a statement to the ABC, saying he was a “hero” for trying to help the mother of two girls.
“Gypsy’s parents are very grateful to the man that stopped to help her,” they wrote.

Rolfe is also charged with armed robbery with actual violence, dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful possession of a motor vehicle with intent to deprive, stealing, evasion and driving without a licence while disqualified as a repeat offender.
Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday held a mention for those charges.
The defendant, who remains in Sunshine Coast University Hospital after suffering serious head injuries, did not appear in court.
Rolfe allegedly stole an Isuzu MU-X SUV in Gympie’s main street 12 hours before the fatal crash by threatening a mother and three children at knifepoint.
Queensland Police later spotted the stolen car but the driver refused to stop and escaped.
It was not being pursued at the time of the three-vehicle collision.
