The parents of a toddler who died after she was hit by a car in the driveway of her family home have warned others to take care at their own homes.

Savannah, 1, was seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon by a car driven by her father in the driveway of the family home on Crawford Road in Inglewood, north-east of Perth.

Although she was taken by ambulance to the Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, she “succumbed to her injuries and unfortunately passed away” later that evening, police said.

Her family released a statement, thanking the public for the “outpouring of love” for their daughter, who was a month away from her second birthday when she died.

“Thank-you for the outpouring of love for Savannah,” they said.

“Savannah is now with her sister Gracie in Heaven.

“Savannah’s parents would like to warn all families about the dangers of reversing cars and children.”

Normal road laws do not apply when an incident occurred in the driveway of a home, which was considered to be private property, a police spokesperson told The New Daily. The Police Coronial Inquires Unit would prepare a report on behalf of the coroner.
