A young Tasmanian woman shot during the Paris attacks has been released from hospital after undergoing surgery, and is expected to make a good recovery.

A statement released by Emma Parkinson’s uncle said the 19-year-old underwent surgery for a bullet wound to the leg, sustained at the Bataclan concert hall where 89 people were killed.

She has now been released from hospital and is said to be doing well physically but is not in a condition to speak publicly.

The statement said she would need some time to come to terms with the horrific experience she had been through.

Ms Parkinson’s uncle, Michael, said his niece was now spending some much-needed quality time with her mother, who travelled from Australia to be with her.

Ms Parkinson had relocated to Paris 10 days before the attacks, after spending a year in Germany.
