Convicted paedophile Rolf Harris has reportedly been rushed to hospital after experiencing a diabetic reaction from eating too much chocolate.

The Mirror reports sources close to Harris say the 85-year-old became ill after a chocolate overdose, and was secretly taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for emergency treatment.

The former entertainer’s lifelong friend, singer Vince Hill, said he had heard from one of Harris’ closest friends that he had “sort of over-dosed on chocolate.”

“According to him, that was the scale of the problem…he didn’t know he was eating too much chocolate,” he said.

A spokesman for the hospital said: “We cannot confirm whether Rolf Harris has been a patient here.”

“We don’t comment on individuals.”

Harris has suffered a range of medical conditions in recent times, including diabetes, a minor stroke and vertigo.

He was sentenced to five months and nine months of jail in July of last year, for a series of sexual assaults against children.

He will be eligible for parole towards the end of 2017.
