A candlelight vigil will be held for 12-year-old Tiahleigh Palmer, whose body was found on the banks of a Queensland river three days ago.

Officers returned to the Pimpama River on Sunday morning after revealing that a missing pink backpack and school uniform could be key to finding out what happened to the year 7 student.

Fishermen discovered Tiahleigh’s body on Thursday, and police say she was last seen being dropped off by her carer at Marsden State High School on October 30.

 Candlelight vigil attracts hundreds

There are plans for a candlelight vigil at a park near Marsden State High School in Logan at 6pm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, police have again appealed for public help as they investigate Tiahleigh’s death.

Detective Superintendent Dave Hutchinson said police wanted to hear from anyone who was travelling on Chambers Flat Road or Muchow Road on October 30 and had footage from a dash cam or a similar type of recording device.

They also want to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of the bridge over the Pimpama River on Kerkin Road North between October 30 and November 6.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
