Raids scuttle 6,800 ice deals

Three men have been arrested over the importation of crystal methylamphetamine, or ice, in one of two police raids in Melbourne’s west.

Victoria Police said Wilson Dahn, 28, Emanuel Teah, 25 and Sehwhy Nipoe, 28, were arrested in Truganina, and charged with importation of a marketable quantity of a border controlled drug.

The raids were conducted by the joint taskforce Icarus, which combines the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Victoria Police and Customs.

The taskforce was set up in December last year to target international syndicates, using the postal system to import drugs.

AFP Detective Superintendent Matt Warren said the seizure of the ice, was a “significant win for the community”.

“This is 6,810 street deals which won’t contribute to the ongoing misery visited by crystal meth on users, their families and the community,” he said in a statement.

The three men appeared in an out-of-sessions court session on Friday night, before re-appearing at the Magistrates Court on Saturday.

In a separate Icarus raid in Derrimut on Friday, a 24-year-old man was arrested after police allegedly found cash and a large amount of drugs, including MDMA, cocaine and ecstasy.

Hiep Quang Truong has charged with drug trafficking offences and will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.
