A man has spent 20 hours on the floor of a toilet cubicle after collapsing at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital on Monday.
Management have pledged to investigate the incident, described as ‘distressing’ by New South Wales Heath Minister Jillian Skinner.

“This is a distressing case and I extend my sympathy to this gentleman and his family,” Ms Skinner said in a statement, adding the hospital had begun a “major investigation” into the incident.
“I have asked the hospital to keep me informed of the progress of the investigation — and of any further measures which would prevent a repeat of such an incident.”
The 67-year-old man arrived at the hospital on Monday but was found by a cleaner in the toilet cubicle on Tuesday morning more than twenty hours after he arrived.
He had been due for a diabetes appointment on Monday morning but suffered a stroke in the bathroom, Channel Nine reported.
His wife raised the alarm after he failed to return home that evening.
The man remains in a critical condition.
Hospital management said they would amend their protocols to include check toilets.
