Till death do us part: Blissful image of Chan’s wedding
TV One Indonesia
A bittersweet moment for Bali Nine member Andrew Chan and fiancé Febyanti Herewila was captured in a rare photo, when they were married just hours before he was executed in Indonesia.
The image shows Chan with a beaming smile and his bride by his side, at Besi prison on Nusakambangan Island, one day before his execution.
Chan was seen placing a ring on Ms Herewila’s finger in a ceremony presided over by his spiritual counsellor, Salvation Army minister David Soper.

“Feby and Andrew had a bit of a celebration this evening,” he said on Monday.
”It was celebrated with some family and close friends. We’d just like to celebrate that with him tomorrow as well so hopefully the president will still show some compassion, some mercy so that these two young people can carry on with their lives.”
But there was no compassion shown by Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Chan and fellow Bali Nine ringleader Myuran Sukumaran were executed by firing squad in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after spending 10 years on death row for attempting to smuggle drugs out of Indonesia.
The newlyweds would have had a precious few hours together before Chan was executed for the drug crimes.
It is one of the few images to have been aired of Chan since he was transferred from Bali’s Kerobokan prison to the remote Nusa Kambangan island.
Photography had been banned on the island and media was kept away at a nearby port.
It is understood this image was captured by an official from the Indonesian attorney general’s office.
