Eight-year-old amputee’s brave dance melts hearts

Eight-year-old Alissa Sizemore has performed in her first solo dance competition since she lost her leg in an accident 11 months ago.

Wearing an aqua leotard, pony-tail and a prosthesis, the young girl grinned from ear to ear as she moved to ‘Try’ by Colbie Caillat.

Surgeons amputated Alissa’s leg after a truck ran over her foot while she was playing outside with her older sister Cyley.

Half way through the routine the young girl from Utah daringly removes her orthopaedic limb and completes the routine using only one leg, showing not only her impeccable balance but also just how brave she is.

“Dancing has been my favourite thing since I was four. I don’t have part of my leg, but I can’t let that stop me. I still want to dance,” Alissa told People magazine.

Alissa received a well-earned standing ovation for her performance.
