‘I hope it’s a girl’: Prince Charles’ baby hopes

The Prince of Wales has confessed that he hopes the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a girl, as he described becoming a grandfather for the second time as “splendid” news.

Charles already has a grandson – Prince George – but said he would like a granddaughter as he visited the studio of a young entrepreneur who has been helped by his Prince’s Trust.

It’s official! Princess Kate is pregnant again

As he left the premises in south London he met Corey Johnson who congratulated the Prince on becoming a grandfather.

The heir to the throne replied: “I am already. But it’s wonderful to be a grandfather again. I’m looking forward to it – but I hope it will be a girl this time.”

Charles appeared in good spirits when he was quizzed about the announcement the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant.

He was questioned by the family of entrepreneur Demi Owoseje helped by the Prince’s Trust, who opened up her leather upholstery studio in Bermondsey, south London, for a royal visit.

Miss Owoseje gave the heir to the throne a quick demonstration of her technique renovating a dilapidated chair.

But when her sister Toy in and mother Elizabeth were introduced to the Prince there was only one subject on their mind – Kate’s pregnancy.

Toyin congratulated Charles first and he said: “What did I do?”

“It hasn’t arrived yet – (but) splendid, we’re very excited,” he said.
