Nicole Kidman is heading to colder climes for the much-anticipated second season of streaming hit Nine Perfect Strangers.
Based on the book of the same name by Australian author Liane Moriarty, the first season of the TV thriller was released in 2021.
It was set in California, but actually filmed during Covid in NSW, in and around Sydney, Byron Bay, and Ballina.
Details and images from the second season were released on Friday.
The plot of the first series followed nine strangers (of course) from the city who gathered for a 10-day retreat at Tranquillum House health and wellness resort in the fictional town of Cabrillo, California.
But the resort was not what it seemed to be.
Kidman, who is also a producer of the series, is the only star of the first edition to reprise her character for the second season, which is this time filmed in Austria.
“Nine new strangers connected in ways they could never imagine are invited by mysterious guru Masha Dmitrichenko (Kidman) to join a transformational wellness retreat in the Austrian Alps,” the official logline for season two says.

The new strangers include Kidman’s Australian compatriot Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek), Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes), and Christine Baranski (The Good Wife).
Season one of Nine Perfect Strangers starred the likes of Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale and Regina Hall.
Kidman, 57, shows no sign of slowing down, this year already appearing in the newly-released psychological thriller movie Holland.
She is also executive producer of Australian drama series The Last Anniversary – also based on a Liane Moriarty novel.
In 2024 she appeared in three movies, A Family Affair, Spellbound and the critically acclaimed Baby Girl, as well as TV shows Lioness, Expats and the Perfect Couple.
Among her upcoming projects, Kidman will star as forensic pathologist Kay Scarpetta in the television adaptation of the best selling Scarpetta crime novels by Patricia Cornwell.
Nine Perfect Strangers season two premieres on Prime Video on May 22
