Sky News has sacked controversial broadcaster Ross Cameron after racist remarks during a show that Sky’s CEO said were “totally unacceptable”.

Cameron was a co-host of Sky News’ Outsiders with Rowan Dean. His offensive comments came in a rant about Disneyland in Shanghai.

“If you go to the Disneyland in Shanghai on any typical morning of the week you’ll see 20,000 black haired, slanty-eyed, yellow skinned Chinese, desperate to get into Disneyland,” he said.

The remarks were part of a discussion about allegations that the Chinese government has an interest in influencing Australian intelligence and could gain control over elements of Australian society.

Cameron also said “the Chinese civilisation is the oldest continuing civilisation in the world, OK, it is not going anywhere”.

Activist group Sleeping Giants Oz published the clip on social media. The group targets companies who advertise on contentious programs such as Outsiders.

Advertisers, including Qantas, quickly came under pressure to ditch their sponsorship of Sky News.

On Friday, Sky News chief executive Paul Whitaker said Cameron had been sacked.

“I have today advised Ross Cameron that his contract with Sky News has been terminated,” he said.

“Sky News is committed to robust discussion and debate. However, this language is totally unacceptable.”

Mr Whitaker said Sky had also removed all content from the October 30 episode from its platforms.

Cameron, a staunch Christian renowned for his conservative views, was a Liberal member of the NSW parliament from 1996-2004.

Outsiders has sparked controversy before. Most recently, Cameron and Dean apologised for comments David Leyonhjelm made on their show about Senator Sarah Hanson-Young.
