US actress Heather Locklear has been arrested for investigation of domestic violence and fighting with sheriff’s deputies at her California home, authorities say.
Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Sunday in Thousand Oaks, west of Los Angeles, Ventura County sheriff’s capttain Garo Kuredjian said.
The victim of the alleged domestic violence was a boyfriend of the former Melrose Place star, who had a physical injury making the offence a felony, Mr Kuredjian said.
Locklear was uncooperative with the deputies and became combative, he added.
“She was kicking at and pushing our deputies,” he said.
She was also arrested on three misdemeanour counts of battery on a police officer.
Locklear said she had been injured prior to the deputies’ arrival and was taken to a hospital and cleared medically before being booked into county jail.
She was released on US$20,000 ($25,000) bail and is due in court on March 13.
According to TMZ, Locklear’s brother called 911 after he found Heather and her boyfriend fighting.
It also reported Locklear’s boyfriend, who it named as Chris Heisser, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol just hours after the actress’ arrest.
A lawyer for Locklear declined to comment on the matter.
The 56-year-old actress was among the biggest stars on television in the 1980s and 1990s, with roles on Dynasty, T.J. Hooker and Melrose Place.
Authorities did not release the name of the boyfriend who was involved in the call.
Locklear has had previous run-ins with law enforcement, including when she was arrested in 2008 in suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Last January, Locklear responded to rumours that she had entered rehab for the fifth time.
“I am feeling great and am taking steps to enrich and better my life. Currently I am working on tying up some loose ends regarding certain issues so I can hit 2017 full steam ahead,” she said in a statement at the time.
