Has Netflix lost the plot? Or is it the only company making quality original television anymore?

The streaming service has announced the original productions coming in 2017 and they’re all a little whacky to say the least.

Okja

This sci-fi flick from South Korean director Bong Joon Ho tells the story of a young girl who must stop a giant multinational company from kidnapping her best friend, a giant creature named Okja. It stars Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano and Lily Collins.

Bright

This fantasy film about a cop (Will Smith) teaming up with an orc (Joel Edgerton) to find a super-weapon reportedly cost $US90 million to make.

The Santa Clarita Diet

Drew Barrymore plays a Californian real estate agent who discovers a new zest for life when she acquires a taste for human flesh.

War Machine

From Aussie director David Michod, War Machine is a half-drama, half-parody that follows the rise and fall of a US General (played by Brad Pitt) during the war in Afghanistan.

G.L.O.W 

Alison Brie plays an out-of-work actress who tries to revive her career by becoming a TV wrestler.

Release date: June 23

Mindhunter 

Set in 1979, this show stars Charlize Theron and follows two FBI agents who interview imprisoned serial killers to help them solve current murders. It’s produced by Gone Girl director David Fincher.

The Discovery

Robert Redford plays a scientist who manages to prove an afterlife exists, prompting a raft of suicides as people attempt to cross over. It also stars Jason Segel and Rooney Mara.
