The Bachelor: Olena pulls surprise muddy move to catch Richie’s attention

The Bachelor hopeful Olena has pulled off a genius, spur-of-the-moment move to finally show Richie how she really feels about him.

During a group date where the ladies and Richie navigated a commando-style obstacle course, the usually coy and adventure-averse Olena set herself apart from the rest of the contestants.

She challenged Richie to a one-on-one mud crawl, after the whole group had already been through the sloppy pit.

“I’m gonna go as fast as I can because I know he hates losing, so I’m like, ‘Alright, gonna win this and kick his butt’,” Olena said.

Watch it:

Richie was impressed: “I thought I had this, but she went across that mud like a lizard running over the Gibson Desert. Like, I don’t even know if her palms even touched the mud.”

Even the other ladies were in awe; they weren’t even mad.

“That was very well played by Olena. I wish I had have thought of that,” Alex said.

It earned Olena some one-on-one time with Richie, which she needed, because Richie had bemoaned his belief that Olena had been too withdrawn in the past.

“I’ve been in your position before, where it is difficult to, I guess, open up. With everything you do know about me now, can you see a future here?”, Richie asked.

Olena responded: “I see a huge … you know, a relationship with you and, potentially, falling in love with you. But I want them to keep growing at a steady pace so then I don’t get scared.”

This was enough for Richie to make up his mind. He gave Olena a rose, and they kissed.

Things didn’t end so well for “best buddy” Kiki, who missed out on her rose and went home, presumably to a shower and a good sleep.

Fun on the farm

Earlier in the night, Richie took viewers back in time during his second one-on-one date with Nikki.

We knew he was taking Nikki back to a gentler time because he picked her up in a 1920s-style wagon and he wore a trucker cap circa 2000.

Yes, Richie wore a trucker cap on a date.

Richie and Nikki drove through the countryside (because Nikki is a country girl) and had a drink at a pub.

“I could never have imagined that I would meet someone like you,” Nikki said. “Um, and I think that you are perfect for me.”

Richie then told everyone but Nikki: “Nikki’s fantastic. Every time we talk, she’s very honest and open about exactly how she feels, and that’s the thing I like about Nikki the most.”

They then had dinner in some sort of country-styled yard. Think an outdoor barn that an interior designer would create.

Then a band came out to play for Richie and Nikki. Think Mumford & Sons on a budget. They danced to the music and kissed, and a rose for Nikki followed.

“You’re [Nikki] an absolute sweetheart,” Richie said. “And, you know, just the way you look at me, everything that you say to me, is absolutely beautiful.”

Nikki told the cameras afterwards: “It’s crazy that after this amount of time, I’ve fallen in love.”

It was that easy.
