The Bachelor isn’t stinking Richie after all

It’s official — the Bachelor doesn’t have a body odour problem.

Children’s entertainer Janey was eliminated from the Network Ten reality series on Wednesday night, allowing her to clear up the rumours about Richie Strahan’s scent.

“No,” Janey told The New Daily when asked if the Bachelor was ‘smelly and awkward’ as reports have suggested.

“And you know what? I got one-on-one time with Richie straight after the roller derby. You’d think if he’s going to be smelly it’s going to be then. Those sumo suits were saunas. But I thought he smelled quite nice.”

Janey also addressed reports the bachelorette house resembled a “prison camp” due to a gruelling filming schedule and limited access to the outside world.

On the contrary, Janey insisted she was a “lady of leisure” inside the Sydney mansion, “watching movies and sleeping in and swimming in the amazing pool and using the helipad as a dance floor”.

Janey, who made an impression on fans by dressing as a “princess” and breathily declaring her wish to find her “prince charming”, said her life had taken a “crazy” turn since leaving the show hit the air last week.

“Everything went back to normal after filming ended because most people didn’t know where I’d gone,” the 27-year-old said, revealing she told friends and family she’d moved to Shanghai as a cover for her stint on the show.

“Then it came back on [the air] and it all went crazy.”

The Brisbane-based performer was this week tailed by paparazzi seeking to tear down her “princess image” with less-than-flattering photos.

“It’s really weird,” Janey admitted, “I saw the paparazzo — he must have been following me for a really long time without me realising – but I was like ‘I’m probably being paranoid it’s probably someone bird-watching’.”

Her advice to anyone considering going on the show was to ensure, “they’re brave enough to not have many secrets and to be seen in a way you might not want to be seen”.

So did she feel as though her portrayal on the show was fair and accurate?

“People keep asking me that as if they expect me to be like, ‘I’m not that crazy,’ but sorry that’s me.”

As for her now-infamous ‘Bachie’ necklace that sent the internet wild, Janey said she still has it but it’s not as a creepy as first thought.

“I’ve had it for a while. I can change the letters on it so I’ll have to change them to something else now.”
