Veteran news presenter and well-known media personality Chris Bath will take over Richard Glover’s Sydney 702 Drive spot in for three weeks from Monday.

Bath, who left Channel Seven in 2015 after 20 years, is filling in for the popular radio host while he takes a holiday.

Admitting they were difficult shoes to fill, Bath told Fairfax Media she was a big fan of Glover and is looking forward to the “adrenalin rush” of radio after some time out of the saddle.

Bath began her journalism career in radio in 1988 as a 2UE cadet reporter. After working in regional television for a number of years, she accepted the role of newsreader at Channel Seven in 1995.

Bath described her first job as a “baptism of fire” and said she learned more in her first year of journalism than the 27 years proceeding it.

Despite looking forward to a brief stint on one of the country’s highest-rating radio spots, Bath confirmed she was in talks with Sky News for a possible job on the 24-hour news channel.

“I have been talking to Sky, but I have been talking to a lot of people,” she told Fairfax Media.

“Part of leaving is exploring what opportunities are out there.”

The presenter said while she enjoyed radio, she was still a TV person first and foremost, having worked on everything from 11am, Seven’s Late News, the 6am bulletin, Witness, Face to Face and covering the Olympic Games.
