The new Bachelor pick might look familiar

West Australian rope technician Richie Strahan is set to hit television screens for a second time after being officially confirmed as the star of the fourth Bachelor series.

Strahan won hearts all over Australia last year when he made it to the final three in the debut season of The Bachelorette, but failed to win the heart of bachelorette Sam Frost.

Now the Perth-based hunk, 30, is ready to step back into the dating pool in a very public way.

“To be honest I couldn’t believe they called me up to ask,” Strahan told News Corp of his new gig on the Channel Ten reality series.

“I’m a very private person and it’s a really big decision to put yourself out in the public arena again. I found it really hard to open up on the Bachelorette last year, but the end decision was that I could meet a girl who I could pretty much spend the rest of my life with. It’s a pretty big carrot.”

Strahan has remained single since The Bachelorette finished in October 2015. “There’s Tinder, but it’s not my cup of tea,” he admitted.

In an Instagram post confirming the news, Strahan said he “can’t wait to start this adventure” and hopes to “meet someone amazing”.

Despite it’s somewhat bizarre premise, The Bachelor and it’s sister show, The Bachelorette, have relatively good track records when it comes to crafting perfect matches.

Series one contestants Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich are still together, while Bachelorette Sam Frost is happy in love with Sasha Mielczarek and series three winner Snezana Markoski is engaged to Bachelor Sam Wood.

Series two of The Bachelor was a little less smooth-sailing, with Bachelor Blake Garvey proposing to Sam Frost in front of the cameras before changing his mind and dumping her for runner-up Louise Pillidge. Garvey and Pillidge are, however, still together.
