Happy ‘dry hump day’ everyone! Oh wait …

Live television can be a challenge at the best of times, but sometimes it is the small talk that gets hosts in trouble.

Fox News anchor Amy Andrews learnt this the hard way on Wednesday when some well-intentioned small talk veered into less G-rated territory.

During a morning broadcast on Detroit’s Fox 2 News the network’s breakfast team – Jay Towers, Amy Andrews and Alan Longstreet – engaged in some casual conversation about the week.

“Just flying by this week, it’s Wednesday, right?” Andrews asks Longstreet, who responds, “I think so”.

“Hump day!” Andrews continues, before delivering the kicker: “Hopefully we’ll have a dry hump day.”

There’s a one-beat pays before Andrews’ colleagues realise what she’s said and Towers let’s out a prolonged “Ohhhh” with raised eyebrows.

“Hump day” is a colloquial term for Wednesday, the middle of the week.
