Get excited – John Oliver is coming to Australia
Australian politicians beware: comedian John Oliver is bringing his whip-smart critique to our shores.
Known for his epic takedowns, the Last Week Tonight host has won hearts with his scathing monologues about everyone from “car crash” Prime Minister Tony Abbott to ponytail-pulling New Zealand leader John Key.

It was no surprise then that Twitter went into meltdown on Monday with the news that Oliver, having achieved almost demigod status, is bringing his stand-up comedy tour to Australia.
The 38-year-old will perform just two shows when he comes Down Under in August – one in Melbourne at the Palais Theatre on the 27th and one in Sydney at the State Theatre on the 30th.
Tickets go on sale in one week from Monday May 11 at 9am.
It’s going to get ugly people, so clear your calendar, call in sick to work, and prepare to pull your hair out as you hit refresh on the Ticketmaster site like it’s going out of style.
