Carrie’s the punters’ tip to grab television Gold

Carrie Bickmore has emerged as the punters’ favourite to collect her first Gold Logie.

Bickmore, who must overcome stiff competition in Scott Cam, Andy Lee, Asher Keddie, Hamish Blake and Steve Peacocke, has been nominated for the prized statuette four years running, while Lee and Peacocke have each had three nominations.

Logie Awards

Carrie Bickmore is never one to take a Gold Logie nomination too seriously.

Cam, Keddie and Lee’s mate Hamish Blake have each won Gold and will be hoping to pick up another.

If punters’ bets are any indication of how TV Week readers have voted, Bickmore will be up on stage on Sunday night accepting the award for the most popular personality on Australian television.

According to online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au, Bickmore is the favourite to win the Gold Logie (at $2.25 when markets closed) while Keddie (at $3.00) is her biggest competition.

The Block host Cam was the second-best backed overall after Bickmore.

The Logie Awards will be Bickmore’s first big public appearance since giving birth to daughter Evie, her second child, about six weeks ago.

“I admit it wouldn’t have been the first place I would have chosen to go out for the first time after having a baby, on the red carpet, but, you know, whatever,” Bickmore said on KIIS radio this week.

Offspring and Party Tricks star Keddie will also be walking the red carpet at Melbourne’s Crown Entertainment Complex, nine weeks after her first-born son Valentino arrived.

Love Child star Jessica Marais, last year’s red carpet standout in a smoking medieval-inspired J’Aton dress, has the chance to repeat Keddie’s 2014 double Silver Logies haul in the actress categories.

Luke Arnold’s performance as Michael Hutchence in the miniseries INXS: Never Tear Us Apart has him in the running for two Silver Logies – most popular and most outstanding actor.

Nine is screening the awards live for the first time, from 7.30pm (AEST), after a red carpet show at 7pm.
