Bachelor’s Blake and Louise share ‘true love story’

New Bachelor couple Blake Garvey and Louise Pillidge have shared the details of their whirlwind romance during an interview with Carrie Bickmore on The Project.

Speaking to Bickmore for the second time on Monday night, Garvey responded to hardline questions from the television host.

“So are you going to give me the real story today?” Bickmore asked, referring to Garvey’s previous interview where he denied being in love with someone else following his split from Bachelor winner Sam Frost.

Instead, Garvey claimed to be “heartbroken” over his break-up with his former fiancee while failing to reveal his budding relationship with Pillidge.

carrie bickmoreThe 31-year-old defended his story, claiming Frost had asked him to hide his relationship with Pillidge during the interview.

“Sam knew about Louise?” Bickmore questioned.

“She knew I had feelings for Louise,” he replied. “She asked me not to mention it.”

Bickmore then questioned Pillidge as to whether she found it hard to trust a man who dumped her on national television.

“Blake felt he was protecting me by sending me home,” Pillidge responded.

“It’s a true love story. Through everything that Blake’s faced and I’ve faced, you know, everything, we’re sitting here, confessing and telling you that we’d do anything to be together.”

Garvey also took the opportunity to criticise The Project for his portrayal in the post-split interview, accusing them of using a “laugh track” to trivialise his responses.

“I’m just trying to be respectful and I’ve adhered to Sam’s wishes and I’m trying to be mindful of Lou and there’s only so much I can do or say. When you insert a laugh track behind everyone of those answers then what can I do?”

Bickmore was quick to dismiss the notion, arguing, “we don’t insert a laugh track, that’s people’s natural reactions to what you had to say”.

“You have to admit there’s something comical about saying it’s heartbreaking saying goodbye to 30 women.”

The pair first revealed their relationship to Woman’s Day, sharing excerpts from a five-page love letter Garvey wrote to Pillidge and discussing their plans to move out together.
