GoT actor dies during filming
An actor recently cast in a starring role on hit HBO series Game of Thrones has collapsed and died in the middle of filming for the fifth season.
Northern Irisih actor JJ Murphy, 86, was four days into filming his role as Ser Denys Mallister – the oldest member of the Night’s Watch – when he died suddenly.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, his agent Philip Young described Murphy’s passing as a “tragic loss”.
“I have never encountered a man with more spirit, passion and love for his craft,” Philip Young said.
Murphy also had a role in the upcoming Dracula Untold film and appeared in 1999’s Angela’s Ashes but was best known for his prolific theatre career.
HBO has not confirmed whether the role is set to be recast.
