Cooking series MasterChef did what its reality show rivals The Voice and The X Factor this week couldn’t – it won the ratings.

MasterChef was the highest ranked show on Thursday with 1.239 million viewers which was also its highest rating episode for the year.

The last time MasterChef was No.1 was on July 26, 2012 when an episode of MasterChef All Stars attracted 1.26 million viewers.

On Thursday, it was the first non-news program to win the ratings this week.

The highest ranked shows for the first four nights (Sunday-Wednesday) of the week were either Seven and Nine News.

Even The Voice semi-final (on Monday) and The X Factor, which screened for three nights this week, didn’t top OzTAM’s overnight ratings.

Ten will also be chuffed that MasterChef spin-off program, MasterChef Masterclass also made the top 10 on Thursday. It was fourth with 1.051 million viewers.

Nine’s AFL/NRL Footy Shows made a rare top 10 appearance.

The combined audience of 821,000 viewers landed The Footy Show in ninth spot for the night.
