A “purge surge” of Ivanka Trump’s fashion line has seen people donate and resell the fashion items at record rates, according to reports.

ThredUP, a fashion resale website where shoppers trade second-hand luxury brands, has reported a dramatic rise in Ivanka Trump-branded items listed on its website.

The past five months have seen a 111 per cent increase in the First Daughter’s products listed on the website, compared with just a 20 per cent increase in the total number of listings across the website.

There was a massive 223 per cent increase in Ivanka Trump products listed online in 2016 compared with the year prior, Fortune reported.

However, it remains unclear whether people listing the items online are trying to get rid of the products or cash in on its current brand recognition.

But it appears Ivanka Trump brand designs are being dumped at charity stores at growing rates, too.

Goodwill charity store employees have told Fortune there has been a rise in the donations to some San Francisco and New York City stores. A national spokesperson could not confirm that trend.

Women have come forward to say they donated the items out of “disgust”, while others have taken dramatic action.

In January, author and blogger Luvvie Ajayi burned a pair of Ivanka Trump-branded pump heels.

Leading US department store Nordstrom announced early this year it would stop stocking the fashion line because of poor sales. The Wall Street Journal in February reported data showing Ivanka Trump sales had dropped 26 per cent in January alone.

There was a steep drop in sales of up to 70 per cent in the weeks before the presidential election, according to the data.

However, politics appears to be driving sales up and down, depending on who you are and where you shop.

In February, White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway urged Fox & Friends viewers to purchase Ivanka Trump products.

E-commerce aggregator Lyst then reported a 219 per cent increase in sales that month, Washington Post reported.

Ivanka Trump brand president Abigal Klem has maintained sales are on the up, she told Refinery 29 in March.

A spokesperson for TK Maxx confirmed Ivanka Trump products were still for sale at its Australian stores.

Ms Trump no longer runs the brand, but still owns it.
