Chanel makes supermarket shopping glamorous

The 2014 Autumn/Winter Chanel show at Paris Fashion Week showcased crop tops, glam sneakers, coloured fur and track pants in, of all places, a brightly lit supermarket.
Rather than strutting their stuff down a straight runway, models absentmindedly wandered the aisles of a stylised version of Coles, carrying brightly coloured bottles and jars in luxurious leather and chain baskets.
While models selected Chanel bath salts, coffee and toiletries, attention was turned equally to the women off the catwalk.
Keira Knightley, actress and face of Coco Mademoiselle perfume, arrived wearing fresh-off-the-runway Chanel which showcased an alarmingly small waistline.
The actress, known for her tiny frame, shocked showgoers with her petite mid-section and prompted international media to wonder whether she was battling an eating disorder. Knightley has vehemently denied rumours of anorexia in the past.
Another show-stopping attendee was popstar Rihanna, who wore head-to-toe pastel purple and frolicked with her model best friend Cara Delevigne post-show. The songstress also showed off a svelte waist suggesting that maybe it is the expertise of Lagerfeld’s tailoring, rather than weight loss, that’s to blame for the slender stars.
A notable face on the runway was Kardashian little sister Kendall Jenner, whose appearance on the coveted catwalk has cemented her foray into the high-end modelling world.
The Chanel show is just another masterpiece in a long-running tradition of creativity and opulence that has seen giant merry go-rounds, gold lions, food-laden banquet tables and massive windmills all used as backdrops for the brand’s designs.
