Benedict Cumberbatch’s 12-week run as Hamlet on the London stage is already sold out due to his legions of loyal fans.

According to The London Evening Standard, tickets to see Hamlet were the fastest-selling in London stage history.

They have completely disappeared just under a year out from the performance run, which kicks off on August 5, 2015 at the 2000-seat Barbican Theatre.

Around 100,000 tickets, starting at £35 per person, to see Cumberbatch as the Danish prince went on sale online on Tuesday to a waiting queue of 30,000. They were all gone in a matter of minutes.

Viagogo, the European equivalent of Ticketmaster, revealed that the production was the most searched-for in the site’s history, outdoing Beyonce and Jay-Z’s On the Run tour tickets.

The actor, whose star is steadily building after critically acclaimed performances in 12 Years a Slave, Star Trek Into Darkness and two Hobbit films, has amassed a legion of female fans who call themselves “Cumberb*tches”.

Resale tickets have already reached exorbitant prices of £350 (approximately AU$626) or more.
