Presley Gerber, the only son of American supermodel Cindy Crawford, has died aged 27.

US media, including People magazine and TMZ are reporting that Gerber died in a rehab facility on Sunday (local time).

“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” a family representative told People.

TMZ said records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the death. An autopsy is yet to be completed.

The 27-year-old model and actor was the only son of Crawford, 60, and her businessman husband, Rande Gerber, 64.

The couple also have a daughter, Kaia Gerber, who is an up-and-coming model in the US.

According to US media, Presley Gerber had a history of mental health and drug abuse issues, and had spoken out about his struggles.

“Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do,” he told a podcast in 2023.

“[Mental health] is an issue. It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it.”

“That’s really what I want to do: Help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment.”

TMZ also reports that Gerber was arrested in 2019 for driving under the influence. He was sentenced to three years of probation, ordered to complete a DUI program, and serve two days of community service.
