Controversial online influencer Brian Johnson – better known as the “Liver King” – continues to post videos challenging Joe Rogan to a fight, despite his arrest for threatening the podcaster.
Johnson, 47, was released from jail Thursday after being arrested for making “terroristic threats” to Rogan.
Police said in a statement Wednesday they arrested Johnson after they learned that he was travelling to Austin, Texas, where Rogan lives.
They said the online fitness and strength influencer had threatened Rogan in a series of videos posted on Instagram.
“Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out, my name’s Liver King. Man to man, I’m picking a fight with you,” Johnson said in a video he posted Tuesday.
“I have no training in jiu-jitsu; you’re a black belt, you should dismantle me. But I’m picking a fight with you. Your rules, I’ll come to you, whenever you’re ready,” he said.
In another video posted that day, Johnson similarly challenged Rogan to fight “man to man”.
“You never come across something like this, willing to die, hoping that you’ll choke me out because that’s a dream come true,” he said.
Police said they contacted Rogan, who told them he had never previously interacted with Johnson and considered the posts to be threatening.
Later that day, Johnson was arrested at the Austin Four Seasons Hotel and charged with terroristic threat, a class B misdemeanour.
The Liver King Instagram account posted a video of a handcuffed Johnson, wearing what appears to be a tactical vest, a maroon hoodie, matching sweat pants and hiking boots, being loaded into a police car.

Johnson rose to fame posting videos promoting what he described as the “ancestral lifestyle”, which includes consuming large amounts of raw meat and animal organs, particularly animal liver.
Nutritionists have criticised his dietary advice as spreading misinformation.
Johnson has never been a guest of Rogan’s highly successful podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. However, he and his alleged steroid use were the subject of one of Rogan’s podcast episodes in 2023, which has more than 8.7 million views on YouTube.
Rogan mocked Johnson on his podcast, calling him “preposterous,” for insisting that his bulked-out physique was achieved due to his “natural” lifestyle and that he did not use steroids.
Rogan, 57, is a former comedian and actor who has attracted significance influence as a podcaster. The Joe Rogan Experience, which he started in 2019, has more than 19.6 million followers.
In addition, Rogan is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
After catapulting to online fame in 2021, Johnson was accused of taking steroids in November 2022, which he initially denied.
At the time he was making an estimated US$100 million ($A154 million) a year selling protein supplements and dried animal organs, had 1.7 million followers on Instagram and an impressive 3.5 million followers on TikTok.
In December 2022, Johnson uploaded a video to his YouTube channel in which he revealed: “I lied, and I misled a lot of people … Yes, I’ve done steroids, and yes, I am on steroids, monitored and managed by a trained hormone clinician.”
Rogan has since said that Johnson asked to appear on The Joe Rogan Experience, but he refused because he “ran a con game and you got busted”.
Despite his admission, Johnson still offers fitness and lifestyle advice, and his following has risen to more than 2.9 million on Instagram and 6.1 million on TikTok.
