The real reason Zayn Malik left One Direction
Millions of teenage hearts around the world broke when Zayn Malik announced he was leaving boy band One Direction, and now he’s revealed why he did.
At the time the singer said he wanted to be a “normal 22-year-old” but this week on Twitter he gave fans a brief insight into what his motivations were.

• After killing Cecil, dentist ‘wanted elephant next’
• Filthy water threatens the next Olympics
Along with a photo of him signing a solo recording contract, Malik said it was time to “explain why I left, it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to make #realmusic”.

Malik signed with famous recording company RCA which also houses the likes of Alicia Keys, Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake.
The tweets triggered a predictably massive and hysteric response from One Direction’s enormous online following.
Some felt Malik’s initial reasons for leaving were now a lie, and that they knew he was sick of having a lack of creativity in music style with One Direction.
Simon Cowell, the notoriously harsh American Idol judge who discovered One Direction, congratulated Malik.
His tweet suggested he helped the young performer secure the solo record deal.
We have been working on this for a while and I am pleased to say congratulations to @Zaynmalik on signing with @RCARecords
