A social media campaign is underway to get Taylor Swift’s hit pop song ‘Shake it Off’ to the top of Triple J’s annual Hottest 100 countdown.
Voters have been casting votes through social media with the hashtag #Tay4Hottest100.

As of Friday lunchtime, it was the third favourite song with punters on Sportsbet, behind ‘High’ by Peking Duk and Chet Faker’s ‘Talk is Cheap’.
The progress of the official vote will not be revealed by the Triple J until Monday night, but the #Tay4Hottest100 campaign has certainly added publicity for the station, as its relevancy is questioned by some critics.
It has also sparked an anti-Swift campaign, with a change.org petition started to ensure the song cannot win the countdown.
Although the song is hardly Triple J’s indie style, ‘Shake It Off’ has been a huge hit for the 25-year-old Swift. Her 1989 album has also just notched a ninth week at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
The song has been featured on Triple J – with German folk duo Milky Chance performing their interpretation for the station’s popular Like A Version segment, but as it has not been played in its original form it is most likely ineligible.
Still, it’s interesting to see the debate battled out on social media between fans and haters of the US star.
After some voters complained on Twitter about the song being excluded, ABC managing director Mark Scott weighed into the debate.
@aJoeMcKenzie Shake it off Joe. @triplej

Wow @MarkDiStef I see @mscott has been outed by his own daughter @laurabscott as a Taylor Swift fan. Game over. #Tay4Hottest100 — BenFordham (@BenFordham) January 15, 2015
As did many others.
#Tay4Hottest100 is wonderfully subversive. It’s like sneaking sausage into a quinoa salad.

Shake it off, Australia! The Census gives no insights into how many ‘Haters’ there are in Australia. #Tay4hottest100 — Census Australia (@ABSCensus) January 15, 2015
Look, if you do vote #Tay4Hottest100, don’t just vote for her. Chuck in some Aussie acts, maybe a lady artist or three. More love, no h8.
