Anomaly, from American rapper Lecrae, sold 88,000 copies in its first week and beat out US band Maroon 5 to take the number one place on the charts.

Only five albums from the Christian charts have ever reached number one on the Billboard 200.

Lecrae tweeted his surprise about the news, telling his 898,000 followers, “the system didn’t plan for this”.

Lecrae, 34, is a well known Christian performer in the United States and has sold more than 1.4 million albums in his career.
