Lorde scores big role in Hunger Games franchise
Lorde is set to have the first single in the newest Hunger Games movie album – and she’ll curate the movie soundtrack.
The 17-year-old Grammy Award-winner from the North Shore said she’d already written the first single with producer Joel Little, and urged her fans: “be ready”.
“I am so pleased and proud to have been announced the sole creator of the soundtrack for MOCKINGJAY – PART 1,” she tweeted.
Lorde’s latest job involves her hand-picking artists for the album, which is due to be released in the southern hemisphere’s spring.
“Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge but I jumped at the chance,” she said in a press release.
“I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”
Director Francis Lawrence described what she’d done as “truly remarkable” and said her song completely captured the film’s essence.
The movie, starring fan favourite Jennifer Lawrence, is the third in the Hunger Games series and is due to come out this November.
