Justice Crew reign supreme on ARIA charts

Sydney-based hip-hop group Justice Crew have made Australian music history.

The group’s triple platinum single Que Sera sits at No.1 for a ninth straight week – the longest run at the top of the ARIA singles chart for an Australian act, beating the record set by Austen Tayshus nearly 31 years ago with Australiana.

Que Sera now joins the likes of Katy Perry’s smash Roar and LMFAO’s Sexy and I Know It as the equal third-longest stay at the top of the chart this decade.

Last week, Justice Crew’s John Pearce told AAP the band’s chart success was down to the group shrinking in size, which has gone from nine members to a happy “family” of six: Solo, Lenny, Paulie, John, Lukas and Samson.

“Our group used to be a lot bigger,” he explained, admitting some egos had clashed in the larger incarnation.

“It’s definitely made a big difference, being around guys you want to (work with),” he said.

Pearce said the group’s members have matured since the dance troupe took out 2010’s Australia’s Got Talent.

“We’re five years older. We’ve grown and evolved as people and as musicians,” he said.

Giving Justice Crew a run for their money on the ARIA singles chart this week was fellow Australian Sia.

Her song Chandelier has leapt back up six places to No.2 after The Voice contestant Sabrina Batshon delivered a powerful performance of the track during the first live final of the Nine Network reality TV show.

Nico & Vinz climb back up two places to No.3 with Am I Wrong and The Madden Brothers hold at No.4 with We are Done.

Tove Lo’s Stay High has dropped to No.5 on the singles chart.
