Sheppard, Chet Faker keep chart top spots

Australian acts Sheppard and Chet Faker have held sway for another week at the top of the ARIA singles and albums charts.

For Brisbane indie pop band Sheppard it’s the third week their hit Geronimo has been the No.1 single while Chet Faker’s Built on Glass becomes the first Aussie studio album since The Sapphires in 2012 to stay top for more than a week.

Another local Sia holds at No.2 with her hit Chandelier, while current touring act Jason DeRulo debuts at No.3 with his new single Wiggle featuring Snoop Dogg.

Calvin Harris spends a second week at No.4 with Summer, while his girlfriend Rita Ora jumps 11 places to No.5 with I Will Never Let You Down.

Pharrell Williams drops three places to No.6 with Happy while down a place at No.7 is Jessica Mauboy with Never Be the Same. Peking Duk’s High falls three spots to No.8 and Clean Bandit are down two places to No.9 with Rather Be.

Moving up five places to No.10 is Justin Timberlake’s Not a Bad Thing which becomes his 14th top 10 hit in Australia.

The albums chart sees the Frozen Soundtrack back up to its former peak of No.2. INXS swap places with Frozen as their Very Best Of is down to No.3, but blasting back into the top five at No.4 is Jessica Muaboy’s Beautiful, rising 13 places.

The fourth of six Aussie acts within the top 10 is Harrison Craig who holds for a second week at No.5 with L.O.V.E..

The highest new entry at No.6 is Caustic Love, the third album for Scottish singer Paolo Nutini. Nutini’s new disc is also the No.1 album in the UK.

The remaining local artists in the top 10 are Russell Morris with Van Diemen’s Land at No.7 (down three positions) and Dan Sultan with Blackbird down a couple of places to No.8.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Katy Perry with Prism at No.9 (down a place) and dropping three spots to No.10 is Pharrell Williams’ G I R L.
