New footage reveals Mad Max: Fury Road without CGI

With a budget of $US150 million and six Oscars under its belt, Mad Max: Fury Road was one of the most astounding films of 2015.
However, a new video from the Namibian set of the blockbuster – captured before special effects were added – has revealed just how impressive George Miller’s dystopian epic really was.
The clip, shared to YouTube by ESports TV on September 8, showcases segments of the film’s lengthy car chase before they were enhanced by computers.
In short, they are breathtaking – involving hundreds of extras, choreographed stunts, fire, explosions, huge clouds of dust and, of course, lead actor Tom Hardy.
Over 2000 shots were later enhanced with visual effects by Melbourne-based studio Iloura, earning the film an Oscar nomination for Achievement in Visual Effects.
Garnering more than a million views already, the action-packed footage leaves little doubt as to how the film’s massive budget was spent.
