The second–highest paid actor in the world, action hero Jackie Chan, is to get an Oscar.

Along with film editor Anne V Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster and documentarian Frederick Wiseman, he is a Governors Award recipient.

The film academy announced on Thursday that the four industry veterans will receive Oscar statuettes at the annual Governors Awards ceremony in November.

Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs described the recipients as “true pioneers and legends in their crafts”.

Chan has starred in and produced dozens of films, dazzling with his stunts and martial arts. His most recent credit is Skiptrace.

Coates won an Academy Award for her editing on Lawrence of Arabia and has worked with such directors as Sidney Lumet and Richard Attenborough.

Stalmaster has been casting since the mid-1950s. His credits include The Graduate.

Wiseman started making documentaries in 1967. His most recent was last year’s In Jackson Heights.
