Zoolander sequel: Ben Stiller shocks fashion week

Actors Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have strutted their stuff in a surprise Paris Fashion Week appearance to announce the sequel to 2001 comedy Zoolander.

The two men shocked the audience at the Valentino show on Tuesday when they walked down the runway as their male model characters, Derek Zoolander and Hansel.

• Hey fellas, what do your shoes say about you?
• Why Melbourne men are Australia’s trendsetters

The normally subdued fashion crowd cheered and gave Stiller and Wilson a standing ovation, many of them in disbelief.

Paramount Pictures confirmed the Zoolander sequel on Twitter, announcing the movie was slated for release in February 2016.

Stiller also confirmed the sequel, posting a photo of he and Wilson backstage with the caption: “Apparently Derek and Hansel have come to terms on Zoolander 2”.

Designer Valentino also shared news of the surprise appearance, posting photos of Stiller and Wilson with Vogue Editor Anna Wintour backstage, as well as on the runway.

One photo caption read: “Marie Antoinette once said, “Let them eat cake.” Derek and Hansel have certainly devoured this runway”.

The men, decked out in silk pyjamas and an embroided suit, both looked every part the male supermodel.

In November, speculation of a second Zoolander movie arose, with reports actress Penelope Cruz had signed on for a second movie.
