Media personality Chrissie Swan has revealed the dramatic reason for her long and mysterious absence from her radio show.

Swan has not been on The Chrissie Swan show since September, with fans wondering what was going on.

She revealed on Wednesday that she had suffered a “medical emergency” that resulted in her being hospitalised for “ages”.

“I have received so many messages from you guys saying, ‘Where are you? When are you coming back to the radio?’ And the truth is, I don’t know,” she said.

“A couple of months ago, I had a medical emergency – completely unplanned, as emergencies are – and I was in hospital for ages, and even that was weird for me because I’ve only ever been to hospital to have babies.”

“I’ve been resting at home, getting better, lots of sleep, lots of reading, lots of, you know, sorting out the spice drawer, finally.

“But today I feel the best I felt in weeks slash months.”

Swan posted that messages from her listeners had “really warmed the cockles of my heart”.

“I want you to know I have read every single one and that I am OK, and I am going to be OK.

“I am recovering. I am being very well cared for here at The Compound and as soon as I feel like myself for longer than an hour at a time, I’ll be back!

“Sorry to cause so much concern — it was a worry for me too. But I’m heading in the right direction.”

Swan’s co-host Jack Charles last month revealed he was quitting Nova to replace sacked DJ Kyle Sandilands at KIIS.

Charles left a comment on Swan’s post, poking fun at rumours that her hiatus had something to do with him leaving.

“Wait, Daily Mail said it’s coz you’re mad @ me,” he wrote.

Charles will form a trio with Bondi vet Dr Chris Brown and occasional KIIS fill-in host Amy Gerard on the radio waves on November 9.
