Singer Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom have confirmed rumours that have raged online for weeks – they have officially split.
The pair, who were together almost 10 years and got engaged in 2019, announced the news in a joint statement to Page Six on Thursday (US time).
“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” representatives said.
“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
Perry and Bloom’s daughter Daisy Dove was born in 2020.
Confirmation of the split, which has been the subject of weeks of gossip online, came as Perry wrapped up the Australian dates of her global Lifetimes Tour.
“Thank you Australia for always being there for me,” an emotional Perry told fans in Adelaide, as she made a love-heart sign.
Meanwhile, Lord of the Rings star Bloom was spotted last weekend among the A-list guests at the Venice wedding of Lauren Sánchez and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Perry, 40, was not by his side. He was apparently accompanied instead by a “mystery brunette” – later identified as Perry’s former stylist Jamie Mizrahi.
A source close to Perry and Bloom has told Us Weekly they decided to call it quits last month.
“It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is, of course, upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life,” they said.
The Teenage Dream singer was previously married to now-embattled TV personality Russell Brand.
The source said the split had been “a long time coming”, and relations between Perry and Bloom had been “tense” for months.
Earlier this year, Perry joined Sanchez and four other women on a historic trip into space on Bezos’s Blue Origin rocket.
Elsewhere, 48-year-old Bloom this week shared cryptic philosophical posts from Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist Carl Jung to social media.
“Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible,” he wrote in one.
Another said:“Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.”
Bloom was previously married to Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr, with whom he shares 14-year-old son Flynn.
